Benedict XVI appreciates effort by Cuban Government and People

ROME, March 29, 2012.- Pope Benecit XVI appreciated the Cuban Government and people for the warm welcome and the affection offered during his recent apostolic visit to the Caribbean country.

A telegram sent during his return to Italy and released by Radio Vatican expressed that “the Pontiff renews his heartfelt gratitued to him (President Raúl Castro), to the civilian authorities, the pastors and faithfuls of Cuba, for the innumerable signs of affection” .

Cordial Meeting between the Pope and Fidel, Vatican Confirms

At a press conference in Havana, Federico Lombardi, assured that the meeting between the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and the Pope Benedict XVI was “cordial”.

Lombardi expressed that during the meeting, scheduled for half an hour, at the Apostolic Nunciature of Havana, was of “great cordiallity, as you will see in the images of the meeting”.
